Angul, Feb. 11: Police today arrested a man, who had allegedly killed two brothers and dumped their bodies in a well at Kusukila village near the town six days ago.
With the arrest, the police now claim to have solved the mystery over the sudden missing of the siblings since February 4 from their village in Jarapara police limits.
The police said Jhasaketan Rout, 35, of Kusukila had purchased seven acres from former sarpanch Raj Kishore Sahu at Rs 40 lakh. However, on scrutiny it was found that a portion of the land had already been fraudulently sold to another man.
"Angered at this, Rout killed Raj Kishore's son Jogeswar Sahu, 35, and his cousin Hiranyakhya Sahu on the night of February 4," said Angul superintendent of police Rajesh Pandit.
He further said that after committing the crime, Jhasaketan had then fled to Balasore from where he had a plan to move outside the state.
