Bhubaneswar, Aug. 14: She is just four years old, but creates magic on canvas. A painting exhibition by Tanvi Tanaya, a kindergarten student, at regional centre of Lalit Kala Akademi has stunned visitors.
“My daughter started making sketches when she turned two. By the time she was three, she was confidently using crayons and colour pencils. She has won many awards. This exhibition is an attempt to boost her confidence,” says Padma Mahanti, who is also the regional passport officer.
Tanvi, fondly addressed as Tanee, is a student of upper KG at SAI International School. At a tender age of four, when her friends are busy playing with dolls, Tanaya is deeply influenced by Indian mythology.

She likes Lord Krishna and many of her drawings are a reflection of her perception of the character. She has drawn Krishna both having fun with his siblings and vanquishing the evil power. Then there are stories of Goddess Durga, Kali and others that have also influenced her art.
“She can also chant shlokas with clarity and correct pronunciation,” says her mother. Her artwork covers a wide range of subjects including nature and wildlife. The little girl has already started doing acrylic on canvas.
The five-day solo exhibition will conclude on August 16. There are more than 150 paintings on display.
