Bhubaneswar, July 12: Police are yet to nab the prime accused in connection with the e-book scam even one month has passed since two cases have been registered at Capital and Kharavela Nagar police stations.
The cops have arrested two persons in connection with the fraud. A police team had camped for around one week in Uttar Pradesh to nab Agra-based youths "named" Kuldeep Sharma and Vikrant Sharma, but their effort has proved futile. They are the key accused in the case registered at Kharavela Nagar police station.
Deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi said the identity of the accused were being ascertained.
"Our team traced both Kuldeep and Vikrant in Uttar Pradesh, but they were not the ones, who were involved in the fraud. The accused have made fraudulent identity proofs in their names. We are hopeful of identifying the real accused shortly," said Bhoi.
Similarly, Capital police, too, failed to arrest the prime accused, Raghavendra Singh Saluja and Nikhil Kumar, who had floated the firm.
Inner Quality Business Solutions Pvt Ltd at Kharavela Nagar has allegedly duped crores of rupees from more than 200 persons by roping them in for preparation of e-book for its foreign clients, while APS Solutions Pvt Ltd in Capital police limits have also duped more than 200 clients in the same manner.
On June 9, Capital police arrested retired captain of Indian Navy, Nrusingh Prasad Patnaik, for promoting the APS Solutions. Similarly on June 19, Kharavela Nagar police arrested Urbashi Nayak, an office-bearer of the Inner Quality Business Solutions.
The duped agents, however, demanded the police to nab the prime accused and freeze their bank accounts, so that they could get back their security deposits.
"I have given Rs 10 lakh as security deposit to Inner Quality Business Solutions Pvt Ltd in April and scanned several books. I have invested all my savings in the firm. The police should arrest the prime accused and freeze their bank accounts, so that we could get at least some of our investments," demanded Gourishankar Muduli, a duped agent.
Capital police had earlier frozen to the tune of Rs 20 lakh deposited around 15 bank accounts of APS Solutions. In the other case, Kharavela Nagar police have traced as many as 16 bank accounts of the firm and its two directors.
"Further investigation revealed Rs 2.3 crore of being deposited in the accounts in one year, from which around Rs 50 lakh has been paid to the agents. The accused have withdrawn the rest amount before absconding," said a police official.
