Bhubaneswar, June 26: Hours after the High School Certificate (HSC) examination results were published last morning, the sale of online common application forms began for admission into over 1,200 junior colleges in the state.

Till this evening, around 1,285 application forms had already been sold from the website of the department of higher education (www.dheorissa.in). The number of sanctioned seats in junior colleges is 3,05,356. A candidate can apply to up to six choices of colleges and streams in order of preference. There is also an option to make changes in the application forms through the “Edit CAF” option on the website.

A common prospectus, containing details of the e-admission process, details of junior colleges and other information, is also available on the website. The first part of the prospectus, which includes general guidelines, selection principles, details on reservation and weightage, is written in Oriya. This part of the prospectus is also available for sale at the junior colleges for Rs 10.

The second part of the common prospectus, which is in English, can only be downloaded from the website. It contains information on the colleges, their numbers of seats and subject availability, elective subjects’ combination, cut-off marks of previous year, hostel facilities, fees and so on.

After filling in the forms, the applicants have to take two print-outs — one college copy and one applicant copy. The college copy requires the signature of the applicant and his/her guardian. The copies, relevant documents and their fees have to be submitted to the nearest student academic management system (Sams) resource centres (junior colleges have been converted into Sams resource centres) facilitating e-admission.

The receiving authority would keep the college copy of the form and other necessary documents, while returning the applicant’s copy, with a money receipt-cum-index number, to the applicant.

The last date for submission of online applications is July 9 (midnight). By that time, students will have to submit the application forms at any of the 377 Sams resource centres across the state. These centres would receive the application forms and conduct the first and second rounds of selection for admission.

The higher education department has also set up a toll-free helpline to attend to queries of the students in regard to application. The helpline has been named as “Sanjog” and its number is 155335. The helpline will help students and guardians know about the Sams, how to fill in the application forms, tracking the application status and solving other issues regarding e-admission.
