The journey of the sacred wood or daru of Lord Jagannath began from Pandara Square near Bhubaneswar on Monday. Earlier in the day, large number of devotees flocked to the village to catch a glimpse of the holy wood
despite the mercury hovering around 40°C.

Devotees were seen standing in long queues for hours to get a darshan of the sacred wood. Keeping the huge crowd in mind, around 18 police platoons have been deployed to maintain traffic. The sacred wood would halt near Sai Temple at Tankapani Road for Monday night.
