Bhubaneswar, Oct. 17: From plush and cozy sofa sets to abstract designed lampshades – the Home Interior and Furniture Expo at Janata Maidan has unveiled some striking furnishings for home décor.
The month-long expo that started from October 1 is pulling a good crowd for its innovative and smart interior products. The exhibition, organised by a private firm, has taken care of every intricate detail that completes a house. Apart from the basic necessities such as dining, drawing, bedroom sets, kitchen cabinets, the expo also displays centre tables, lampshades, rugs and furnishings.
The expo marks its second year. Set up in a sprawling area, the organisers of the event are expecting a better sale than its debut year. “We received a very good response last year. And we are hoping to double the sale this year,” said director of the expo Rajib Das. The décor imported from Malaysia and Singapore comes with a discount of 25 per cent.s
One of the most talked about display in the expo are the lampshades. Aluminum streaks in magenta, silver and gold rolled in shape of flower and leaf give a unique and fascinating appearance that are grabbing eyeballs. Centre tables beautified with oval shaped ceramic stands will give an interesting look to the décor. A small crimson modular kitchen displayed at the corner of the exhibition is also attracting visitors. Other attractive décor includes beige marble dining sets and deluxe sofa sets.
The price range of the furniture has been kept reasonable to attract customers and up the sales at the expo. Starting at Rs 1,000, the cost of furniture and other items go up to lakhs. The furniture displayed here is mostly made from medium density fibre that makes it cost-effective without compromising on the style.
“The exhibition is a step to introduce our Oriya customers with upbeat and modern interiors. All our furniture is highly durable and more reliable than wood or ply. The furniture in our expo will give a sleek look to the interiors,” said Das.
Furniture buyers however, appear to be ready to splurge when it comes to purchasing durable and exquisite interiors.
“I do not compromise on price when it comes to buying good products. When the product is good and durable, the price is invariably high. The expo also has a good collection of almirahs and I am planning to buy one,” said Srijit Mohanty, a customer at the expo that is on until October 30.
