Bhubaneswar, Feb. 1: Music lovers tighten your seat belts.

The fifth edition of Ragefest organised by Club Knox will see three rock bands from Calcutta and two from Bhubaneswar perform under the same roof.

The high-octane event will take place at a hotel in Nayapalli on tomorrow evening.

Rock band Turnkey from Calcutta will be headlining the show. The band is known for breaking new grounds in the Calcutta music circle. They enjoy immense popularity among rock music lovers and take technical metal and punch it with alternative rap to make it commercially viable without compromising on quality. Ever since they performed at XIMB, the city audience has been craving for more.

The other two rock bands to feature from the city of joy are Noyze Akademi and The Fourth Elysium. Noyze Akademi claims to be the only hardcore band from Eastern India to have featured and received airplay on a local channel in the UK.

They had already headlined Ragefest 2 and music lovers will be looking forward to their performance. The Fourth Elysium is a new band formed from two major bands of Calcutta — Erased Undead and Exiled Sanity. They are touted as the next big thing in terms of technical metal and death core.

The local rock stars will also weave their magic on the occasion. Amidst Barren Dreams is presently Bhubaneswar’s only extreme metal act and is creating waves across various college competitions and shows.

The other local band, Unbound Retention, is a recently formed Nu-Metal/Hardcore band. They too are slowly gaining a fan base.

Launched in February 2011, Ragefest is the first-of-its-kind independent metal festival organised by a team of enthusiasts under the name of Helios (now Club Knox Entertainment). The first edition saw Yonsample from Calcutta headlining the show. A big act in Calcutta's heavy metal scene, Yonsample were supported by three local acts — Wayward, Dopemist and In Space.

Over the years, the festival gained popularity in the Temple City as rock bands such as Calcutta-based Noyze Akademi, Evil Conscience, Burnout Syndrome, What Escapes Me, Chronic Xorn and Bhubaneswar based-bands such as Blu Moon, Raaga, Unbound Retention, Amidst Barren Dreams and Shabd took part in making the fest the toast of the town.

“We want to improve the rock scene in eastern India by bringing big names on the same platform,” said Soumya Banerjee, a member of the organising team.
