Bhubaneswar, Oct. 19: The higher education department is all set to tighten its evaluation mechanism and coding of answer scripts for Plus Two students as part of its initiative to introduce examination reforms
Besides checking the tampering of answer scripts, this move is aimed at incorporating an element of secrecy so that examiners are not influenced in any way.
From now on, answer sheets of the examinees will be dispatched to four “collection zones” of the state. “These collection points are to be selected by the council of higher education,” the higher education department stated.
However, these should preferably be in four parts of the state — one in each of the zones — north, south and west zone located at Baripada, Berhampur and Sambalpur respectively and the fourth in Bhubaneswar.
These will be monitored by the centre superintendents of the examination centers.
The answer scripts will be despatched from the collection zones to the original valuation zones, where they will be coded and valued.
The CHSE has also made a few changes in the procedure of packing of the answer sheets.
After completion of examinations, answer scripts will be packed using wrappers and cloth without mentioning anything about the addressee or the sender.
The packets will then be repacked with another wrapper and cloth mentioning the details of the senders as well as the receiving centres to which it is dispatched.
“Earlier, tracking of answer sheets was very easy and there used to be enough scope for manipulation. However, it is going to be very difficult now,” said Jasobanta Behera, examination controller of CHSE. The CHSE is going to change the shape of answer sheets to check duplication. “However, plans are still in the form of a proposal,” Behera said.
Also, computer science will be introduced as a compulsory subject from the session 2011-12 in all streams. Earlier, yoga and environmental studies were made compulsory. The new curriculum of higher secondary courses for the students to be admitted in the 2012-13 academic session onwards will be changed as per the CBSE syllabus.
