Cuttack, March 20: Resentment is brewing among students and faculty members over rescheduling of examination dates at Ravenshaw University here.

A varsity official said that the examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate courses had been rescheduled in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

The examinations will start from April 19 and would be over on May 16. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held from March 25.

“It is frustrating because our examination has been rescheduled for the second time. The heatwave conditions that prevail around April-May every year will make it difficult for us to come and appear for the examinations in the scorching heat,” said Sabyasachi Mohapatra, a Plus Three second-year student.

Postponement of the examination dates affects the plans of teachers and other faculty as well.

“We have already booked train tickets for the summer vacation. We have to cancel our trips as the examination has been rescheduled,” said a teacher of the varsity.

However, the authorities claimed that the rescheduling of examination would not affect the students as adequate steps would be taken to protect them from scorching heat.

“We have decided to conduct all the examinations between 8am and 10am. We will ensure that all examination halls are provided with adequate drinking water,” said Ravenshaw vice-chancellor B.C. Tripathy.
