Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10: About 1,500 teachers from various government degree and junior colleges will reach the city to get training on e-evaluation on February 13.

These teachers will then be the "master trainers", who will teach other teachers in their respective districts. College principals across the state have been asked to attend the training, along with two science lecturers or readers from their respective colleges with knowledge in computers. These teachers will be trained on how to use the e-evaluation software.

"We have intimated the colleges and any failure to attend the training shall be seriously considered and the principals shall be personally held responsible for it," said a higher education department official.

The department is also contacting teachers from private schools to double up as resource persons for the training. As many as 94,952 science students will take the test, for which 3,600 teachers need to be trained. Earlier, the department had asked colleges to ensure that all teachers had knowledge about computer.

The circular issued to the colleges said the principals should ensure that all the teachers learn the basics of computer through computer science department in their colleges. Teachers of colleges, which do not have such departments, were asked to learn the nuances from private computer training centres by February 10.

Despite announcing the project last year, the government floated the tenders only last month. Officials are hopeful that the method would pass off as most of the science teachers are already computer savvy. The department had earlier decided to go for e-evaluation for all the streams. However, after reviewing the situation, it had finally decided that it would only apply it for the science stream.
