Bhubaneswar, Aug. 14: A short film to promote the spirit of unity and brotherhood has set the mood ahead of tomorrow's Independence Day.

A team comprising lyricist Nizam, actor Arindam, scuba diver Sabir Bux and filmmaker Ashish Bhattacharya took around three weeks to come up with the three-minute harmony video that will be aired on several news channels and screened in schools and colleges across the state.

To capture the freedom spirit in all its dramatics, Bux dived underwater to wave the Tricolour.

Speaking about the project and his individual effort, Bux said: "It was difficult to dive into the water with the Tricolour because the flag was huge, but this was something unique and we wanted to accomplish it. We had a lot of fun during the shoot."

Apart from Bux's diving skill, the video captures the scuba diver singing a song specially written for the video by Nizam.

In a sweet moment, the video also captures 27 school kids, who are dressed in attires reflecting the country's diversity, dancing on the beach in Puri.

The Independence Day spirit is not just confined to reel. In Puri today, a group of Odissi dancers performed on the beach with the Tricolour painted on their faces. The recital highlighted the state's rich cultural heritage.

If the dancers took to the beach today, the Independence Day parade in Bhubaneswar will witness the daredevil stunt of 30 girls.

Riding scooters, the group - Maharshi Daredevils - will showcase stunts to depict tolerance for all religions at the Independence Day parade here.

To celebrate the freedom spirit, various youth groups and voluntary organisations have planned a number of patriotic programmes tomorrow.

"We are conducting a painting and dance competition on the theme of freedom struggle for the underprivileged. We have invited children from special schools and will spend the day with them," said Subash Behera, member of a city-based youth group.

Not to be left out of the celebrations, the Odisha Khadi and Village Industries Board organised an exhibition of national flags. A large number of people were seen buying the Tricolour made in accordance to the flag code of India.

The exhibition also held interactive sessions to sensitise the people about using the right Tricolour.
