Bhubaneswar, Feb. 14: As Valentine’s Day stirs Odia film industry’s love cauldron, the golden pair of Anubhav-Barsha is all set to get closer in real life too.
The industry grapevine is abuzz with rumours that the couple would be walking down the aisle sometime this year. “Post marriage, she is going to quit acting and assist Anubhav in production,” said a reliable source.
Anubhav has already set up a production house with his brother Anuprash, with their first venture being Something, Something that released last month. The film has Barsha in the lead opposite Anubhav.
Sources said actor Buddhaditya Mohanty, who is currently featuring in a new tele-serial on a national television channel, might also tie the knot this year.
A close family source said his mother has been scouting for a bride for the single-and-ready-to-mingle actor for over a year now.
A family source said Buddhaditya, who is in his early 30s, wants to get married to a non-celebrity. “He is a simple person and is seeking a homely bride. He had received around three proposals for marriage last year but none worked out. His parents are keen that he settles down as soon as possible,” said a family source.
Reigning stars of Odisha’s tinsel town — Sabyasachi and Aakash — are already basking in marital bliss. While Sabyasachi has been happily married to his college friend, Seema, for four years, Aakash tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Subhrajyoti in 2010.
Actors Bobby Mishra and Koel, who exchanged wedding vows early this year, are among the very few film couples in Odisha to have entered matrimony.
The other well-known real-life jodis of the yesteryears are that of Uttam Mohanty-Aparajita and Bijoy Mohanty-Tandra Ray.
However, in some cases, the marriages of quite a few superstars did not have a “happily ever after” ending. The marital life of popular actress Anu Choudhary, who is now trying her luck in B-town, ended on a bitter note. Her first marriage with businessman Sandeep Mishra went for a toss with the couple opting for divorce. Anu is now happily married to a Mumbai-based actor.
“I would not like to disclose his name at this point. He belongs to my fraternity and once he gets a sound footing in Bollywood, I will tell you everything about him,” said the svelte actress.
The other much-talked-about relationships of actors that have gone sour in the past are that of Siddhant Mohapatra and Rachna Banerjee, Sriram Panda and Tripura Mishra, and veteran stars, Prashant Nanda and Mahasweta Ray.
It was reported that the secret wedding of Rachna and Siddhant, now an MP from Berhampur, was wrecked, as industry sources say, an ambitious Rachna refused to give up her career. The estranged wife even went to the extent of campaigning for the actor’s rival in the Berhampur Lok Sabha elections in 2009.
However, Siddhant is now much married to one of his close friends and co-stars, Mama Mishra. They have been married for the past eight years. In Sriram Panda’s case, he chose to become a recluse, leaving his wife to fend for herself.
The evergreen pair of Prashanta Nanda and Mahasweta Ray, who starred together in 16 films, fell apart after rumours of their off-screen intimacy spread like fire. Even now, they don’t talk to each other.
