Bhubaneswar, July 14: The 9th Annual Orissa Garments Trade Fair organised by the Orissa Garment Association started today displaying an array of designer wear.
The three-day affair will showcase some of the best national and international garment brands such as Lee, Wrangler, J Hampstead, Live-in, Pepe, Pan America, Camaro Jeans and much more.
The event is open exclusively to all Orissa retailers who can place bulk orders for these international men’s and women’s designer wear for their Durga Puja and Diwali collection.
“Around 100 brands and 700 retailers have registered with us this time. They would exhibit their clothing line and samples for the retailers. Interested retailers can book the samples now for their Durga Puja collection. The response so far has been very good. The number of registered retailers has increased by 50 and brands by 20 this year,” said Biswal Kumar Swain, secretary of Orissa Garments Association.
The first day is arranged for the retailers and distributors, who can book their orders and samples. The second day of the festival is open for visitors. However, known of the clothing lines would be for sale. The visitors can get an idea about upcoming trends and designs through the exhibits.
The third and last day will see models from Mumbai, Calcutta and Delhi displaying the latest trends in fashion in an annual fashion show held along with the garment fair. Model and actress Yana Gupta will dazzle the ramp as the showstopper of the event. Actresses Zarine Khan and Preeti Jhangiani were the star attractions in the last two years.
“Around this time of the year, retailers and distributors from all parts of the state assemble, display and trade on latest collections. The garment industry is in bloom and this festival is an excellent platform for retailers and visitors to get an idea about the latest fashion trends,” said Sanjay Chhapolia, joint secretary of the festival.
