Berhampur, Aug. 30: Police are yet to crack the murder case of a student, whose body was found in Andhra Pradesh yesterday.
The victim, Truptimayee Panda, 21, who was the first-year student of Khallikote Cluster University, went missing from her college hostel on August 25.
Barua police in Andhra Pradesh recovered her body from the side of a road at Desi Ramachandrapur village, nearly 60km from here. They also found her identity card and an Odisha-based English newspaper from near the body and informed their Odisha counterparts yesterday.
The police said Truptimayee was staying in a women hostel at Ananta Nagar and studying in Khallikote Cluster University. After she went missing from the hostel and did not contact them, her family members informed BNPur police station on August 26. When Barua police approached their Berhampur counterpart, Truptimayee's identity was revealed, the police said.
However, it is still not clear why the girl went to Andhra Pradesh.Truptimayee's last rights were performed last night after Andhra police handed over the body to the victim's family members.
The post-mortem report said the girl was murdered and her face was hit with a boulder. The police are still in the dark about the reason behind Truptimayee's trip to Andhra and the culprit behind the murder.
