Cops bust robbery gang

Police today busted a three-member gang involved in a series of loots here.

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: Police today busted a three-member gang involved in a series of loots here.

Acting on a tip-off, the cops raided an isolated location at Bharatpur and arrested Deepak Swain, Tarun Swain, and Sritam Behera.

They recovered 250 grams of gold ornaments, foreign currency notes, four mobiles, four pearl necklaces and other valuables.

"They targeted particular houses, did a recce of them during the day time and looted at night. We received several burglary complaints against them," said a cop.

On the other side of the city in Mancheswar, two bike-borne criminals allegedly looted a jewelery shop and fled with ornaments worth over lakhs of rupees this morning.

Sources said the two youths had been spotted near the shop since the morning before they committed the robbery a little while later.

The owner lodged a complaint with Mancheswar police and cops have begun a probe into the matter.

"We have registered the complaint and begun investigations," said a police officer.#
