Rourkela, Nov. 20: A delegation of Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industries, led by its president Anupam Doshi and two former chiefs, met chief secretary G.C. Pati recently and told him about the problems plaguing the business community.

"The main objective was to hold a comprehensive discussion regarding our problems so that the government can do something to alleviate those, else it will be very difficult for us to manage," Doshi said.

One of the major concerns for the delegation was the power situation in the district. "We requested Pati to make provision for a new grid for the industries so that the power cut problem could be solved," said Doshi.

Subha Pattnaik, former president of the body, who was part of the delegation said: "We have received a good response from the chief secretary. We requested for one-time settlement of water taxes. Besides, we also requested him to rationalise the payment for water consumed."

The team also discussed the problems regarding mineral transport with Pati. It requested for free movement of materials during daytime.

The delegation argued that industries producing excisable final products from minerals should not require transit permit as they were handling finished product and not minerals. They also discussed about the pricing of the iron ore and the e-auction.
