Zoo open

Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park will remain open on Monday on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day. The zoo  is generally closed on Mondays. Zoo sources said since Independence Day is a holiday, people head to the zoo in large numbers. Footfalls increase several fold and so it was decided to keep the zoo open on Monday.

Jajpur: The district administration has initiated a probe into the allegations of a junior officer holding a senior post. Deputy superintendent of excise in Khurda, Bibekananda Nayak, was posted as the excise superintendent in charge of Jajpur. But Nayak has allegedly dropped the “in-charge” portion from his designation and has been signing official documents as excise superintendent.

Body found

Sambalpur: The body of an unidentified man, aged around 30 years, was found at Talpali village in the Sadar police station on Sunday. The villagers  spotted the body and informed the police. 

Man held

Balasore: A 23-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in connection with a chain snatching case The accused, Tapan Das of Basta village has been forwarded to court.
