BJD, BJP protest
Bhubaneswar: BJD will stage a dharna in front of Raj Bhavan on June 29 in protest against the alleged anti-farmer attitude of the Centre. This was announced by party leaders at a news conference on Monday. The BJP is also planning to hold demonstrations on the same day to protest against the attack on Union ministers by BJD workers at Bargarh last week.
Highway vigil
Bhubaneswar: CCTV cameras will be installed at different spots on the National Highway from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to Puri. This was decided during a meeting regarding bolstering traffic and security arrangements for rath.
Explosives
Bhubaneswar: Large quantities of explosives were seized in Koraput by the BSF on Monday. The seized items include, 22 detonators, 25 blasting gelatins and two improvised explosive devices.
Student killed
Sambalpur: A 13-year-old school girl died after her bicycle was hit by a crane near Kulundi Chhak in Jamankira police limits on Monday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Kasturi Rautia of Gautamtikra. The accident led to tension as irate mob blocked the National Highway 6 demanding compensation of the family members of the deceased.
Worker injured
Balasore: A worker of Birla Tyres received serious injuries in an accident on Monday. The victim, identified as Guruprasad Das, 45, of Kahalia village in Khantapara police station limits has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Two held
Bhubaneswar: Khurda police on Monday arrested two persons, including a woman, for cash loot of Rs 46 lakh from employees of Godiapada toll plaza, near Jankia on June 13.
