Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday felicitated sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik for winning the International Sand Art Championship held in Moscow, Russia recently. Naveen presented Patnaik wirh a silver filigree of the Konark wheel and a shawl as memento.

Bhubaneswar: Athletes Amiya Mallik, Dutee Chand and Purnima Hembram on Monday met chief minister Naveen Patnaik and sought his blessings. The trio recently participated in the qualifier for the Olympic Games in Rio and are hopeful of participating in the International Games this year.
Aadhaar van
Bhubaneswar: The municipal corporation will shortly roll out a mobile Aadhaar enrolment van to enlist beneficiaries under the Slum Rehabilitation Housing Projects under the Bhubaneswar Smart City Mission. According to sources, nearly 15 per cent land is held by slum dwellers in the proposed Bhubaneswar Town Centre District, which falls under the smart city project.
Chargesheet
Cuttack: Police on Monday started the process of filing a chargesheet against the Dhal Samant brothers and their associates. So far, chargesheets have been filed against the gangster brothers in four cases pertaining to illegal arms, foreign liquor, fake documents and extortions registered by Markatanagar and Chauliaganj police. The accused have been slapped with 29 cases.
Robber held
Bhubaneswar: Kharavela Nagar police on Monday arrested a robber and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh and a bond worth another Rs 1 lakh from him. The police said the accused, Sanjeev Malik, was part of the seven-member gang that had looted cash worth Rs 17 lakh from the manager of a finance company in Angul this January. The cops are
further verifying his antecedents.
Jawan detained
Kantabanjhi: A BSF jawan was detained by local police on charges of attempting to molest a 12-year-old girl inside the toilet of a train running from Vishakhapatnam to Jodhpur last night. The jawan, identified as San Bilfried, belongs to BSF 149 battalion.
Doctors’ strike
Sambalpur: Health services remained affected at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar), Burla, as the cease work of the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) of the institution entered into its second day on Monday. The JDA launched the cease work over their nine point charter of demands on Sunday. “We will continue our agitation till our demands are met,” said Shankar Ramchandani, the president of the JDA.
Arrest
Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of state crime branch on Sunday arrested Subash Srichandan, one of the directors of a Ponzi firm Ashirbad Multipurpose Co-operative Ltd. The EoW arrested Srichandan on the charges of duping investors of about Rs 10 crore by promising them high rates of interest on their deposits. Police said the firm had its corporate office at Paikanagar near Delta Square here.
Dog eats baby
Dhenkanal: A stray dog on Monday was seen carrying the body of a baby, born on Sunday, from the district headquarter hospital premises. The dog carried the body from the hospital canteen to a nearby colony. When people chased him, it took the body to an isolated place where it ate the carcass. However, hospital authorities denied any baby was born on Sunday.

Keonjhar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) asked the authorities of the Dharanidhara Autonomous College to send back Plus Two papers unchecked after a short circuit disrupted the evaluation of the papers.
