Traffic affected
Bhubaneswar: Traffic was disrupted for nearly three hours following the death of two motorcyclists on NH-5. The deceased have been identified as Sridhar Rout, 50, and his brother-in-law Jagabandhu Das, 48. The incident took place near Begunia Square under Bahanga block. The incident occurred when the motorcycle was hit by an SUV. The protesters lifted the picketing and traffic was restored after the district administration gave Rs 10,000 to family members of each deceased as compensation.
Cuttack bus
Cuttack: City bus service from Choudwar to Cuttack started regular operations from Friday. Ten buses have been pressed into service on this route. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had flagged off the city bus service from Cuttack to Banki and Choudwar on Thursday. Around 22 buses operate on these two routes now and 30 more buses will be added to extend and cover more areas including portions of Athgarh in the second phase.
Robbers held
Bhubaneswar: Police on Friday arrested three goons on the charge of looting people in Bhubaneswar. The police have also seized a car used by them while nabbing them from Pokhariput on the outskirts of the city. The cops said the three
used to rob bikers and car drivers at night.
Goon killed
Berhampur: Six people killed Bulu Prusty, a known criminal of Dharakote, at Sinapalli under Dharakote police station near Mundamarei College, 58km from here on Friday. The attack took place when Prusty was attending a social event at 11am, said sub-divisional police officer Aska Subash Chandra Panda. He was brought dead to Aska Hospital. Police have registered a case.
Murder cuffs
Berhampur: Police have arrested Silu Dalei for allegedly killing a minor girl at Tata Colony under Gopalpur police station limits. Silu allegedly poured kerosene and set her on fire on he April 11. The girl died from her injuries on Thursday. The cops forwarded Silu to court on Friday. Silu, the father of two children, had an affair with the girl and both were staying in Tata Colony for the past seven months, police said
Robbery foiled
Berhampur: Police on Friday claimed to have foiled a dacoity bid in Ganjam district followed the arrest of four people. A mauser, two rounds of ammunition, three crude bombs and a motorcycle were seized from the gang members arrested from Dhunkapada in Polasara.
