Sambalpur: Security forces busted a Maoist hideout at Udol within Handapa police limits in Angul district and seized. Sambalpur superintendent of police Akhilesvar Singh said: “Acting on a tip-off about the movement of a Maoist group, a joint operation was launched by Sambalpur District Voluntary Force, CRPF and Angul police in the border area of Angul and Sambalpur district on February 14. Security forces located the group at Udol on February 15.” The Maoists escaped from the spot following an exchange of gunfire with the troops. However, the police seized several articles including, Maoist literature, cooking utensils and others from the spot.   

Two held

Cuttack: Police on Tuesday arrested two associates of the Usman Ali alias Tito gang during a special drive on Tuesday. Senior officials said Dil Nawaz Khan alias Chiku was arrested while moving in a suspicious manner near SDJM court premises. The cops recovered two live crude bombs, gunpowder and other bomb-making articles from his possession. In another incident, Chauliaganj police nabbed Lokanath Sahu, who was working under Akhana Sahu, another associate of Tito. A pistol and six live ammunitions have been seized from him.
