8 killed in accident
Rourkela: Eight persons were killed and 12 more seriously injured when the driver of a mini truck lost control and fell 40ft from a bridge on a dry river bed near Suriapalli at Lahunipara on Saturday. The vehicle was carrying over 25 passengers, most of them kabaddi players and supporters who were returning from a tournament. Expressing his condolence, chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
Robbers held
Cuttack: Police on Saturday arrested six robbers and seized two pistols and a country-made revolver along with nine live bullets and other sharp-edged weapons.
