Water scarcity
Sambalpur: The residents of Housing Board colony have been facing severe problem because of the inadequate water supply to their area since Tuesday. The residents have failed to meet their demand because of
inadequate water supply. The residents also said that they had moved the public health engineering department.
Boy drowns
Kendrapara: A 10-year-old boy drowned in Tarando village under Nikirai police station jurisdiction. Rudra Narayan Mohanty, son of a marginal farmer, met his watery grave when he slipped into the pond on the backyard of his house, police said.
Nabakalebar
Bhubaneswar: Keeping an eye on Nabakalebar, information and public relation department has published a special edition of Utkal Prasang and Odisha Review. The chief minister released these two editions at the secretariat. Several essays and photographs of previous editions of Nabakalebars in 1969, 1977 and 1996 have been published in it.
Sewage team
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has decided that deputy commissioner will deploy a squad of five persons, to combat obstructions in drain cleaning in the city.
Health varsity
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has directed to set up a health university during a review of the work of state health department. The government is also planning to establish 30 hospitals through public-private-partnership. Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said the construction work of five proposed medical colleges would begin very soon.
OJEE results
Bhubaneswar: The results of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) would be declared on Thursday. Employment, technical education and training (ETET) minister Sanjay Das Burma will announce the results.
OJEE chairman Tusharkant Nath informed that students can check their results by logging into the official website of OJEE - www.ojee.nic.in after 11.30am.
New scheme
Bhubaneswar: The state government is all set to launch a new scheme titled the Biju Bal Vikash Yojana. This programme will be targeted for orphan and deserted children of the state. The chief minister on Wednesday asked all the departments to coo-rdinate for the successful implementation of the programme
Sunstroke
Bhubaneswar: The state government on Wednesday confirmed 29 sunstroke related deaths across the state.
However the unofficial figures put the number at 135. Kendrapara has reported eight deaths and Ganjam seven.
OMSA reaction
Kendrapara: Reacting to the announcement by the state government that it would take action against 613 doctors, who have either not joined their duty or have left their job without notice, the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) said the notice served by the government on these doctors is a ‘farce.’
Sweep machine
Bhubaneswar: The mechanical sweeping machine would be used from Wednesday night at Sishu Bhavan Square. The machine, which was purchased by a private contractor was not under use due to confusion over garbage collection. After the confusion was cleared, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation decided to start it again.
