Drought package

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced the waiver of tuition and examination fees for students from drought-hit areas as part of a package. It also includes agriculture input subsidy, pump sets, repair of defunct lift irrigation points and others.

Maize mission

Bhubaneswar: The state government will set up a maize mission in Nabarangpur to promote maize cultivation and expansion of market linkage. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik here on Wednesday to review the development works in Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts.

Fraud cuffs

Rourkela: Police arrested nine persons in connection with a Rs 4.5-crore bank fraud here. The bank manager was also arrested in the case.The fraud was committed between July 14, 2014 and March 14, 2015.

Bhubaneswar: The report “Helpline balm for labour pain”, published in the October 14 edition of The Telegraph, inadvertently mentioned the helpline number as 140. The helpline number is 104. The error is regretted.
