Income tax raid
Bhubaneswar: Income tax officials raided the office and house of the divisional forest officer of Nuapada, Sarat Chandra Panda, on charges of tax evasion and hoarding of cash. The office of Panda at Khariar and his house at Gouri Nagar in Bhubaneswar were raided on Tuesday morning. Officials said huge amount of cash was deposited during the demonetisation period and the DFO was unable to furnish details.
Bribe arrest
Berhampur: Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Nihar Ranjan Pradhan, executive engineer of SouthCo in Aska, for taking bribe of Rs 10,000 for a load enhancement from Upendra Maharana in his office room at Aska, 40km from here. The houses of Pradhan at Ambapua Bima Nagar and Talua in Jajpur district are being searched.
Bombs
Kendrapara: Goons hurled crude bombs and set on fire a JCB machine at Antei village under Patkura police station jurisdiction at a road construction site on Tuesday. The motorcycle-borne accused hurled bombs at the machine. The work was not in progress during the incident. The machine caught fire from the explosions. Fire brigade personnel later doused it.
HIV test
Bhubaneswar: The health department has advised HIV test of all pregnant woman in the state.
