Cuttack, Sept. 30: The Justice R.K. Patra Commission of inquiry has decided to extend the deadline for the submission of the complaints against deposit collection companies by one month from today.

The commission, which is probing into fraudulent activities of deposit collection companies, however, will not receive the complaints at its office. People have been advised to send their affidavits by post. It has been done to avoid rush at the commission’s office in the city.

“Taking note of the increasing number of affidavits already received, the commission has extended the last date of submission of affidavits to October 31. But affidavits from now on can only be sent to the commission by post,” Justice R.K. Patra told The Telegraph today.

Initially, the last date for submission was fixed for August 31. In view of the increasing number of affidavits, the last date for their submission was extended till September 18 and subsequently till today.

“With more than seven lakh affidavits at hand, the commission was left with no option, but to stop receiving them here as will not be able to proceed further with the inquiry process,” commission’s secretary Devaraj Rout told The Telegraph today.
