Midday meal

The state government has decided to reduce the number of midday meal centres in schools and provide the noon meal through centralised kitchens across Odisha. It has also sought applications from charitable organisations, local self-help groups and social entrepreneurs to set up such kitchens for the effective management of the midday meal scheme. There will be at least 10 schools under each central kitchen. A committee of experts, headed by the secretary of the school and mass education department, will examine and select the agencies to set up the kitchens.

Teachers’ workshop

A three-day workshop for Odia language teachers was held at DAV Public School, Pokhariput, in Bhubaneswar  last week. Around 75 teachers from various schools of the DAV Group took part in the workshop.

Experts from the field discussed with the participants issues such as computer education, the necessity for personality development of students, problems faced by teachers in teaching grammar in the vernacular to a set of students that has become increasingly bilingual.
