Bhubaneswar, Feb. 15: State unit members of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today organised a paribartan yatra (march for change) here to celebrate the party's spectacular victory in the Delhi elections last week and to strengthen its base in the state.

'This march is aimed to draw more members and to strengthen the organisation in Odisha. Activists have responded enthusiastically despite the India-Pakistan World Cup match,' said AAP state convenor Dhanada Mishra. He said the party aims to create volunteers at booth level and was hopeful of cashing in on AAP's victory in Delhi.

The people who turned up for the rally said more such programmes would be organised in the coming days in different parts of the state to take the message of the party to the people. Even door-to-door campaign would be conducted shortly, they said.

The victory march started from Ram Mandir Square and ended at the Master Canteen Square.

Hundreds of AAP members were seen taking part in the massive rally. The organisers said the turnout would have been even bigger had there been no India-Pakistan cricket match today.

While taking part in the rally, the AAP activists were seen distributing leaflets to bystanders, traders and onlookers along the Janpath and briefing them about AAP. After the rally reached the Master Canteen Square, a meeting was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg.

Mishra was all praise for the volunteers for working rigorously and supporting AAP in such a steadfast manner. 'We are confident of the party growing in the state,' he said.

The young activists of the party appeared to be very optimistic after the recent results of the Delhi Assembly polls. They said though the party had contested in the Assembly as well as Lok Sabha polls in 2014, and failed miserably, the impressive performance in the national capital has given them ample hope.

'We have got a new lease of life after our party's victory in Delhi where we drubbed both the BJP and Congress. We are going to reach out to common people and convince them about our stand. If we start from today, we will be able to get a sizeable number of volunteers by 2019,' said Biswajit Parida, a young activist who is also an IT professional here.
