Berhampur, Oct. 31: The municipal corporation will install dustbins with a carrying capacity of 3MT (metric tonne) at 10 places in an effort to keep the city clean.

“We hope this will curb open dumping, make the city clean and facilitate smooth traffic on roads,” said health officer of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation Subhakanta Das.

“The garbage point on New Bus Stand Road has been shifted to the adjoining MKCG Medical College and Hospital complex with prior permission of the authority. Similarly, the garbage point on Corporation Road is shifted to the Gajapati plaza. We will shortly shift the dustbin from Utkal Ashram Road, too, once we get a convenient place,” Das said.

Some traders’ associations recently sat on a dharna to protest against open dustbins in the city.
