Aug. 7: In a bid to promote export trade, the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) is organising a five-day training programme on export marketing for entrepreneurs, government officials and NGOs.

The programme will elaborate on the principles, procedures, rules and regulations and techniques of export marketing.

It will also discuss the various incentives available in the field of export business.

The training will be held on the IIE premises from August 22.

“The dynamic role played by the small-scale industries in the Indian economy can be judged from the fact that it contributes nearly 50 per cent to the manufacturing output and foreign exchange earnings. The forces unleashed by globalisation, technological revolution and structural reforms demands the modernisation of the small-scale sector, but equally important is the knowledge of export laws and formalities. Keeping in mind the changing trends, the IIE is organising the training programme,” said Sunil Saikia, the course co-ordinator.

“Our basic objective is to develop an understanding of export dynamics among entrepreneurs, government officials and other trade organisations so that they have the necessary skills in export trade,” said Saikia.

The programme will focus on the procedures of entering the export market, export market research, export-import policy, export pricing, export finance, export documentation and other related variables.

Experts will also discuss export opportunities in the Northeast and a stress will be laid on agri-horticultural items, handloom and handicrafts industr.

A discussion will also be held on ornamental fish trade and border trade.

The institute provides a support system to budding entrepreneurs and imparts entrepreneurial training.

The Union ministry of small-scale industries set up the IIE with its headquarters in Guwahati.

The major activities of the institute include training, research and consultancy in the field of small-scale industry and entrepreneurship with an emphasis on research-oriented activities.
