Woman threatened

A 24-year-old woman, working for a news channel, today lodged an FIR at Chandmari police station after a group of youths barged into her office at Bamunimaidam and threatened her of gang rape.

Guwahati, Dec. 12: A 24-year-old woman, working for a news channel, today lodged an FIR at Chandmari police station after a group of youths barged into her office at Bamunimaidam and threatened her of gang rape.

According to the complaint, the youths misbehaved with her when she had gone out for tea at 4pm. She protested when one of the youths clicked her photo with his mobile phone. This angered the group. Police said investigation was on to identify the youths. She said the youths had targeted her earlier too.

"The girl told us that the youths gamble and tease women passers-by. Based on her complaint and CCTV footage from her office premises, we have picked up two boys and are trying to identify the rest," a police officer said.

Meeting: A meeting presided over by Assam additional chief secretary R.T. Jindal today reviewed the arrangements for the South Asian Federation Games to be held in Guwahati and Shillong in February. The meeting took stock of the infrastructure, security, transport, accommodation, food and other arrangements.
