Guwahati, Nov. 2: Adarsh Hindi Vidyalaya and Gurukul Grammar School registered convincing victories in their respective matches of the 10th Golap Hazarika all-Assam inter-school (under-16) cricket tournament at Dispur ground here today.
In the first match of the day, Adarsh Vidyalaya defeated National Public School, Ganeshguri, by 28 runs, while in the afternoon, Gurukul prevailed over Paramount High School by five wickets.
Adarsh Vidyalaya elected to bat first after winning the toss and were all out for 158 off the last ball of the 20-over-an-innings match. In reply, NPS were bundled out for 130 runs in 15 overs.
Sambhu Jha scored 33 runs off 18 balls for Adarsh Vidyalaya and was ably supported by Bullet Bora with 29 off 14 balls and Bikash Singh with 23 off 10 balls. Mriganka Das of NPS notched up four wickets giving away 26 runs and Biswajit Barman scalped three for 25.
For NPS, Deep Barman topscored with 35 off 13 balls and Kishore Kalita contributed 31 off 17 balls. Bikash Singh of Adarsh Vidyalaya hauled five for 24 to be adjudged Man of the Match and Sambhu Jha claimed two for 29.
In the other match, Paramount batted first and were all out for 151 in 19.4 overs. In reply, Gurukul Grammar School reached 152 for the loss of five wickets in 19.3 overs.
For Paramount, Rahul Gupta topscored with 42 off 26 balls and Lokesh Sharma chipped in with 41 facing 28 deliveries. Kaustav Deka of Gurukul took three wickets conceding 13 runs.
For Gurukul, Anshuman Das topscored with 54 off 38 balls to be named Man of the Match. Besides, Chinmoy Kashyap chipped in with 27 facing 23 balls. Manoranajan Singh of Paramount claimed two wickets for five runs and Rajesh Giri dismissed one for 12. There will be no match tomorrow because of a state-wide bandh.
