Visitors to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh will soon be able to enjoy the beauty of nature sitting in the lap of luxury.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) on Tuesday signed a management contract with Pema Khandu for a Vivanta hotel in Tawang, at an elevation of approximately 10,000ft to the east of Bhutan. Famous for Tawang monastery, one of the world’s largest Buddhist monasteries, the place attracts travellers for its unique tribal culture and picturesque vistas.

Managing director and chief executive officer of IHCL Puneet Chhatwal said, “We are excited to partner with Pema Khandu to set foot in the scenic and unexplored state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The pact is in line with Aspiration 2022, a five-year business strategy to become the most iconic and profitable company. With Vivanta Tawang, the company continues its journey of pioneering new destinations. The pact’s signing also demonstrates our commitment to the Northeast. We are present in two states of the region, Assam and Tripura, and plan to open in Meghalaya, Arunachal and Sikkim.”

Nestled in the gentle slopes of Tawang, the luxury hotel will be a refreshing vernacular architecture using local materials. It will have 88 spacious rooms with breathtaking views of the valley. Surrounded by lush foliage, it will feature waterfalls and fort-like natural retaining walls. The hotel will also have a multi-cuisine restaurant, a resto-bar, an indoor pool and spa, a banquet hall and meeting rooms.

Khandu said, “We are pleased to partner with IHCL. We are confident that this hotel will give a fillip to tourism in the region along with providing employment opportunities for the youth of Arunachal.”

The company has brands like Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta, and Ginger among others.
