Guwahati, April 12: Nabajyoti Club registered a thumping 175-run win over Titan Club in the inaugural Group A match of the Guwahati Sports Association’s Madhab Ram Bora first division cricket league tournament at Nehru Stadium today.
Electing to bat first, Nabajyoti Club exploited the wayward bowling of the opponents to pile up 253 for three in the stipulated 30 overs. In reply, Titan Club batsmen were bundled out for only 78 runs in 21.4 overs. The match started late and was reduced by five overs per innings due to moisture in the wicket.
State under-15 skipper Ambar Bhattacharjee topscored for Nabajyoti with 64 while Bitop Mahanta chipped in with a useful 48. It was, however, out of favour Ranji player R.K. Mritunjoy Gohain and Sadek Imran Choudhury who stole the show with unbeaten quickfire knocks of 47 and 37 runs respectively. Mintu Chakraborty, Abhisekh Sureka and Ayatullah Rahman of Titan shared a wicket each. Mintu Chakra-borty (11) and Bikram Taye (10) were the only Titan batsmen to score in double digits.
Paceman Ram Kripal Gu-pta and spinner Sadek Imran Choudhury were the demolition men having notched four for 32 and three for nine. Pinaki Bayan and Bhaskar Jyoti Barman claimed a wicket each.
