Imphal, March 12: A flurry of goals from striker L. Tiken Singh helped Yourbung Youth Club drub Heikakmapal Saipo 4-1 to clinch the champions title of the 7th Oriental Football Association (OFA) Cup 2009 at Pungdongbam in Imphal East on Wednesday.

The first half of the match was fiercely contested but neither team could open their account for a while. However, in the 38th minute, Tiken Singh managed to score the first goal for Yourbung. Seven minutes later, Tiken netted another goal for a 2-0 lead.

Down but not out, the Heikakmapal players kept their opponents on the run. However, Yourbung were quick to counter-attack and never let Heikakmapal take the upper hand.

Yourbung’s trump card, Tiken Singh, inflicted two more blows as he struck a brace in the 71st and 77th minutes for a convincing 4-0 lead.

However, Heikakmapal made a late surge for a consolation goal in the 82nd minute.

Apart from the title, Yourbung also won four awards.

DSA Kakching tourney: Anouba Imagi Mangal thumped All Irengband Football Association by 10-1 goals to lift the 5th DSA Trophy N. Bhubon Memorial Football Tournament, 2009, organised by DSA Kakching at Kakching on Tuesday.

In the final match, R. Raman Kom scored four goals while Kh. Surjit Singh and L. Herojit Singh chipped in with two goals each. Ng Tomarjit Singh added one more for Anouba. L. James Singh of Irengband conceded a self goal.

Tampha Singh scored the lone goal for Irengband in the second half.
