Tengakhat edge past Dibrugarh

Tengakhat Sonowal Kachari Students' Union Football Club got the better of Dibrugarh Football Coaching Centre 4-2 via tie-breaker in the C.K. Sarma Day-and-Night Football Tournament organised by Dibrugarh District Sports Association at Chowkidinghee playground here today.

Dibrugarh, June 7: Tengakhat Sonowal Kachari Students' Union Football Club got the better of Dibrugarh Football Coaching Centre 4-2 via tie-breaker in the C.K. Sarma Day-and-Night Football Tournament organised by Dibrugarh District Sports Association at Chowkidinghee playground here today.

Both the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Earlier, striker Saurav Sonowal of Tengakhat scored in the 36th minute as he dribbled past defender Binod Gogoi from the right flank to hit the net.

On the other hand, Dibrugarh FCC made a meal of a number of their chances in the first half.

At the lemon break, Tengakhat were leading by a solitary goal. Dibrugarh FCC came back in the second half with striker Alen Wangnu drawing parity in the 47th minute.

Jyotish Taye, Dipankar Gogoi, Bishnu Sonowal and Nitish Handique scored the goals for Tengakhat, while Dipam Sonowal and Rajkumar Baruah found their mark for Dibrugarh FCC. Tomorrow, Belogoni Tea Estate will play Jalan Tea Football Club.

Sixteen teams are taking part in the tournament.
