Imphal, May 10: Tekcham Polo Club (A) booked a semi-final berth in the 19th Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, defeating Imphal Riding Club 11-1 at Imphal Pologround today.

Tekcham Polo Club will meet Khurai Polo Club while Manipur Police Sports Club will take on Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club tomorrow.

In the last quarter-final, Imphal Riding Club’s Ch. Umananda Singh scored the first goal. Both teams failed to score in the second chukker. In the third chukker, Tekcham Polo Club’s M. Doren Singh, P. Ojit Singh and S. Sadananda Singh scored two goals each to take the score to 6-1.

In the fourth and final chukker, Tekcham Polo Club’s Sadananda Singh fired in two more goals and Doren Singh and M. Manihar Singh scored one goal each for the 11-1 win.

In the other quarter-finals, Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club defeated Meiraba Polo Club 6-3.

L. Tolongkhomba Singh and B. Shantikumar Singh scored for Lamyanba Pakhang in the first chukker while Ch. Ajit Singh scored one for Meiraba Polo Club.

The Lamyanba team’s K. Samananda Singh scored in the second chukker and in the third chukker, L. Mocha Singh of Meiraba Club narrowed the margin to 2-3. In the fourth chukker, the Lamyanba team obtained three more goals with L. Tolongkhomba Singh scoring two goals and B. Shantikumar Singh scoring one. Ajit Singh scored another goal for Meiraba.

Manipur Police Sports Club (B) team was defeated by Khurai Polo Club 9-5 en route to the semi-final.
