Shillong, Sept. 10: Mark your calendar, partygoers. Orchid Lake Resort, Umiam, will bear witness to a rocking evening of EDM music with Submerge Dance Project on October 3.

The country's leading electronic dance music (EDM) company, Submerge, in association with local pioneers CPEN (Centre Point Entertainment Network), will present the event here.

Formed in 2001, Submerge is an artiste management agency and dance music promoter.

EDM refers to a broad range of percussive electronic music genres produced largely for nightclubs and festivals. It is generally used in the context of a live DJ mix where the DJ creates a selection of tracks by segueing from one recording to the next.

Submerge events have featured some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Swedish House Mafia, Tommy Trash, Richie Hawtin, Pierce Fulton, John OO Fleming, DBN, Shogun, Style of Eye and Michael Woods.

Meanwhile, CPEN announced its arrival with a bang in 2005 by presenting a Michael Learns To Rock concert in Shillong.

Submerge's foray into the Northeast with CPEN could set the roots of dance music in the region.

The two entities are bringing back the Submerge Dance Project to the Northeast with Swedish heavyweight Albin Myers, the versatile Nawed Khan and the pioneer and face of dance music in India, Nikhil Chinapa.

Myers is one of the most promising stars of the electronic music world. A performer in the truest sense of the word, with an inventive finesse and a fresh originality of touch in the studio to match, he is an artiste whose capability, showmanship and diligence know no bounds.

Chinapa has donned many hats during his career. He has morphed from DJ to VJ to MC to music promoter to festival director with ease.

Khan is one of the biggest names in the booming dance music scene in India. A resident with Submerge, Khan has constantly stayed ahead of the slow-paced music scene in India by acquiring and playing brand-new tunes.
