Imphal, June 29: Fifteenth seed H. Somokanta Singh continued his winning streak to enjoy the top spot with 12 points in the first Kh. Ramnarayan Shastree State-Level Open Chess Tournament, 2016, organised by Juvenile Club under the aegis of Manipur Chess Association at Tera Sapam Leirak.

In the fourth round of the meet, H. Somokanta defeated fourth seed A. Chakritombi to collect full points.

On another table, ninth seed O. Ningthem Singh defeated A. Pholen to grab full points and to share the top spot with 12 points.

Top seed L. Lalgopal was beaten by third seed N. Bangkim, taking the latter forward by 10 points. Seventh seed H. Jacky and 11th seed Y. Pritamkumar had to settle for a draw to earn 10 points.

As the game progressed, fifth seed S. Premjit Singh, along with Ch. Shamuba, N. Pari, H. Maniton, Bijesh K, Th. KRN, Kh. Sanjoy, Shakespeare L, Chittaranjan T and N. Shantikumar Singh were on nine points. E. Shashikumar and A. Kishorchandra have seven points.

Twelve players on six points are S. Goodcha, Kh. Merajao, M. Dorendro, Sanjit M, L. Rajesh, M. Ranjan, Kh. Oley, N. Brojen, Rk. Dutta, K. Jiban, N. Rajeshwor and L. Shyamkishore Singh.

Referees' seminar: The three-day Referees' Annual Seminar concluded at the AMSA Complex at Mapal Kangjeibung with more than 50 referees attending it. Theory and practical tests were also a part of the seminar.

Transfers: The All-Manipur Football Association has granted inter-district transfer to 306 players while two players' - H. Piyabung and K. Puinachandra - transfer has been withheld and Mayosing Khongreiwo's transfer was rejected.

Football team: The Assam Football Association has named a 20-member state team to participant in the Junior National Football Championship for girls to be held in Cuttack from Friday. Keshob Borah and Lokhi Kilingpi will accompany the team as coach and manager respectively.
