ACA lifts ban on quartet
Guwahati: The Assam Cricket Association on Sunday lifted the yearlong ban on four cricketers — Palash Jyoti Das, Dinesh Mahanta and Bitop Mahanta of Guwahati and Pankaj Tamuli of Tinsukia — at its governing body meeting in Tezpur. The ACA governing body also approved the sponsorship deal signed with Williamson Tea (Assam) Ltd to the Ranji Trophy, under-15 and under-17 state teams and development of the Gauhati University ground for cricket in Guwahati.Camp ends
Guwahati: The Assam Table Tennis Association’s first phase coaching camp concluded on Thursday. The camp, organised by Sivasagar Sporting Association under former state player and NIS coach Biman Bhagabaty, was held in the Upper Assam town from April 26. Altogether 20 junior-ranked paddlers from the state participated in it. The association will hold its Gokul Saikia ranking table tennis championship in Dibrugarh from May 29 to 31.Selection trials
Guwahati: The Assam Women’s Hockey Association has invited 39 players from 11 affiliated districts for a coaching-cum-selection camp, beginning May 21 at Khatkhati in Moran. Guwahati: The Guwahati Sports Association’s inter-club football transfer will be held from May 21 to May 23. Players from super division, first division, second division and third division clubs can contact football secretary Hem Das at the GSA office for clearance on the three days.
