SENIOR DIVISION FOOTBALL

Dibrugarh, July 6: Singlijan Green Club defeated Jalan Nagar tea estate 1-0 in the inaugural match of the first Monuj Patra and Boga Das senior division football tournament organised by Dibrugarh District Sports Association at the DDSA stadium here today.

Singlijan Green Club opened the account through striker Sushil Bag in the 25th minute.

The Jalan Nagar players missed some crucial opportunities in the first half even as they kept trying their best to open their account.

However, the Singlijan players dominated the game and did not allow any inroads into their defence.

In the second half too, Jalan Nagar got many chances to equalise but could not convert them. Sushil Bag was adjudged the Man of the Match.

The tournament was inaugurated by Dibrugarh District Sports Association secretary Manindranath Saikia. Dipuranjan Markary chief executive officer of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC) and Biswajit Sonowal, executive member of SKAC were present at the inaugural match.

Altogether, 11 teams are taking part in the tournament.

Tomorrow, Dibrugarh Football Coaching Centre will lock horns with Romai tea estate.
