
SCHOOL CRICKET
Guwahati, April 7: Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti and Pragjyotish English School registered convincing victories in their respective matches of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly Inter School Cricket Tournament organised by the Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre at Nehru Stadium here today.
Sarala Birla eased past Little Flower by 10 wickets in the first match of the day.
Little Flower batsmen were bundled out for 62 runs in 21.2 overs. Abhijeet Mandal with 28 runs was the lone notable contributor for his side. Manjeet Choudhury and Kaustav Hazarika picked up three wickets each.
In reply, Sarala Birla boys eased past the target without losing a wicket in 7.5 overs. Manjeet Choudhury topscored with 33 runs.
In the other match, Pragjyotish English School got the better of Don Bosco School by 65 runs. Pragjyotish batsmen put up 180 runs for the loss of four wickets. Nikhil Basfore topscored with 83 runs. Abaneesh Medhi picked up two wickets going for 28 runs.
Chasing the total, Don Bosco School could only manage 115 runs before being bundled out in 20.3 overs. Eric Roy topscored for his side with 38 runs. Sayan Ansari was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 19 runs in his 4.3 overs.
Faculty Higher Secondary School will play Kendriya Vidyalaya, IOC, while South Point School will face Rastrabhasha Prabhakar High School in the second match tomorrow.
