Imphal, Sept. 29: Royal Riders Manipur (RRM), a local club of Royal Enfield riders, today kicked off its Nagaland Peren Medical Camp Ride from DM College road near Thangmeiband Athletic Union grounds, here in Imphal West.

Nearly 51 riders, on 30 Royal Enfield motorcycles, left here to conduct a free medical camp at Tenning village in Peren district of Nagaland tomorrow in association with Nagaland Motorcycle Club, a Royal Enfield club from Nagaland. Altogether six doctors from Imphal will conduct the medical camp.

'The mission is to build brotherhood between the people of Manipur and Nagaland,' said RRM general secretary Ziit Saikhom. 'We make contributions from our pocket to make our mission# successful,' Saikhom added. Peren is nearly 192km from Imphal.

After the camp, the bikers will travel towards Dimapur and return along the Imphal-Dimapur road to reach Imphal on October 2.

Royal Riders Manipur comprises like-minded professionals - doctors, engineers, mechanics, artists, policemen, businessmen and others. It was formally established in 2007 with the motto Serving Through Adventure. The group has travelled in the interior parts of the state and other states of the Northeast.

It conducted several environment awareness campaigns and medical camps among other humanity services. People call them 'Angels on Wheels', 'Macho Riders' or 'Angels on the Road', in recognition of their service to the people.

'We carry tents, medical box and sleeping bags whenever we travel. We have been to Sikkim, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunacal Pradesh', said Ziit. 'Adventurous rides are fun and (we enjoy) serving people as well', added Ziit.
