Guwahati, Dec. 9: Hosts Royal Global School, Guwahati (A) emerged champions in the lawn tennis girls’ event followed by Delhi Public School, Guwahati as runners-up in the first Anup Lahoty Inter-School Sports Meet, which concluded on the school premises yesterday.
In the lawn tennis boys’ event, Delhi Public School, Guwahati clinched the gold medal while hosts Royal Global School were the runners-up. Don Bosco School, Guwahati clinched the top spot in the boys’ table tennis event while Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara finished runners-up.
In the girls’ event, Maria’s Public School emerged champions, followed by Royal Global School in second spot.
Maria’s Public School emerged champion in the badminton team event while Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Borsajai finished runners-up. Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti clinched the boys’ basketball title, defeating Don Bosco School in the final while Delhi Public School got the better of Royal Global School to emerge champions in the girls’ category.
Under-13 cricket: Chandmari Cricket Coaching Centre ensured their place in the final of the first City Challenge Inter-Cricket Coaching Centre Under-13 Cricket Tournament, defeating Nalbari Cricket Coaching Centre by seven wickets in the second semi-final at the Janata Bhawan parade ground here today.
Put in to bat, Nalbari batsmen put up 158 runs for the loss of three wickets in their stipulated 25 overs. Nibir Deka topscored with 68 runs off 60 balls while Ivan Baruah contributed 37 runs off 44 deliveries.
Chandmari batsmen got past the target losing three wickets in 24 overs. Aniket Talukdar scored 38 runs off 44 balls while Himjyoti Sharma remained not out with 33 runs off 40 deliveries.
Chandmari Cricket Coaching Centre will lock horns with hosts City Cricket Coaching Centre in the final on Wednesday.
