Shillong, Jan. 16: The Meghalaya government has effected a reshuffle in the police department by transferring police officers, including superintendents of police in various districts.
However, the reshuffle did not touch SPs of some districts including East Khasi Hills, covering the state capital (Shillong), which means that the current SP of East Khasi Hills, M. Kharkrang, and SP (city), Vivek Syiem, have been retained.
The SPs of the districts in Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi and West Khasi Hills also remain unchanged.
In a notification, Special Force-10 commandant A.R. Mawthoh and principal of Police Training School, S.S. Kynjing, were elevated to the rank of deputy inspector-general (DIG).
While Mawthoh has been promoted to the rank of DIG in charge of eastern range, Kynjing is now DIG in charge of western range.
With this reshuffle, IGP (SB and border), F.D. Sangma, has now been relieved of additional charge as DIG in charge of western range.
Inspector-general of police (administration), H. Nongpluh, who was also in-charge of eastern range, has been now posted as IGP (CID).
Additional superintendent of police (ASP) for South West Khasi Hills district, B. Laloo, who has been promoted to the rank of SP, was posted as commandant of 4th Meghalaya Police Battalion.
C.V.S. Reddy has been posted as commandant of 2nd Meghalaya Police Battalion in place of J.F.K. Marak, who has been appointed commandant of Special Force-10.
