Renault hopes to double sales

Guwahati, Oct. 7: Renault India, one of the fastest growing automobile brands in India, is ramping up the number of dealerships in Assam with an eye on doubling its sales in the next two years.

This announcement was made by country CEO and managing director of Renault India, Sumit Sawhney, at the inauguration of the new dealership, Guwahati Metropolitan (Urban World Motors Pvt. Ltd), and booking launch of the new premium SUV Captur, here today. Even the base model of Captur will come loaded with exclusive features and will be displayed by the end of the month, said Sawhney.

With the launch of the new dealership, Renault now has 11 sales outlets in Assam and will reach 15 dealerships by December. Sawhney was accompanied by the vice-president of sales and marketing Rafael Treguer, head of sales and network Bruno Lops, regional business head Ram Mohan Rai and service head Sudhir Malhotra.

'We hope to double our sales figures in the next couple of years through new dealerships. The presence of the top Renault officials on this occasion underlines the importance we attach to the Assam market. Renault is now the number seven car company in the country and we aspire to be at number five,' Sawhney said.

He said the company has registered a consistent growth in car sales and has sold more than one lakh units last year. 'Even this year we will easily cross this milestone. Our strategy is to launch one car at a time, make it a success and move on,' Sawhney said.

'Kwid is the biggest Make In India story. We have achieved 98 per cent localisation and the suppliers are also marketing spares outside the country,' he said.

Sawhney said the company would launch one car every year and concentrate on the sub-four metre category. 'We are the first car company in India to launch a mobile app and a virtual showroom,' he said.
