Jorhat, July 5: Jorhat airport, which had been closed for upgradation work since mid-April, will open tomorrow. S. Patkar, director of Airports Authority of India here, said this today. Jorhat: Police seized two quintals of gutkha from Rocky Khan and Dinesh Das and arrested the duo from near Banipur railway station in Dibrugarh district on Saturday. The two were bringing the tobacco product from New Jalpaiguri. Kokrajhar: With the objective of empowering women from poor economic backgrounds, Nedan Foundation, based in Kokrajhar, took the initiative of launching a free summer IT empowerment for girls on Saturday here. A total of 35 girls participated in the programme, which was inaugurated by BTC secretary Carol Narzary. Dhubri: In view of the growing incidents of cattle smuggling to Bangladesh through the porous border, Dhubri deputy commissioner K.C. Kalita on Saturday instructed the district transport officer and veterinary department to stop illegal transportation of cattle to Dhubri district from outside the state.
