Guwahati, Sept. 11: The Zubeen Garg-starrer Mission China has raked in Rs 1.25 at the box office within three days of its release, the film's distributors have claimed.

They also claimed that the collections are an all-time record by an Assamese film.

'For the first time an Assamese film has collected such a huge amount within three days of its release. It is a record. Earlier, in 2011, another Assamese movie Ramdhenu had collected around Rs 1 crore within a month. We hope the box office collections touch Rs 2.5 crore within one week,' an official of Goenka Enterprise, the distributors, told The Telegraph today.

Today's collections are yet to come in.

On the first day of its release, Mission China had earned around Rs 40 lakh which was also a record opening-day collection in the history of Assamese films.

' Mission China has come as a huge boost to the Assamese film industry. We have seen such a huge response from the audience for an Assamese film for the first time in our 60 years in the film distribution business. Most of the tickets at various cinemas in the state were sold out three days before the film's release. On the fourth day today, the response is the same in every theatre. We are expecting a collection of around Rs 20 lakh today which will take the collection to about Rs 1.45 crore,' the official said.

The Zubeen-starrer, driven mostly by the fan following of the popular singer and the aggressive promotional strategy carried out in the run-up to the film's release, was released in 55 theatres.

A member of the Zubeen fan club in Guwahati lodged a complaint at Dispur police station yesterday against a person named Milan Mil who had threatened the singer-actor on Facebook.

'We have filed a complaint against Milan Mil who threatened Zubeen Garg on Facebook. Around 22 Zubeen Garg fan clubs in different parts of the state also filed the same complaint in their respective police stations. We demand the person to be arrested as soon as possible,' Dhiraj Hazarika, secretary of the Guwahati Zubeen Garg fan club, said.

Dispur police station said an investigation is on but no one has been detained yet.

Two youths have been arrested so far for allegedly beaming the movie live on Facebook from cinema halls. Biraj Hazarika from Guwahati and Sankar Barua from North Lakhimpur were arrested on September 8 and 9 respectively. They are out on bail.
