Guwahati, Sept. 15: Skipper Sibra Narzary's brace helped NF Railway Sports Club post a 2-0 victory over Ganga SC in today's match of RG Baruah Trophy Guwahati Super League football tournament at Nehru Stadium here.

Facing the comparatively experienced railmen, Ganga SC struggled to gain a foothold on the field right from the beginning of the match. The first attack from NF Railway came as early as in the first minute of the match when Jelendra Brahma carried the ball from the midfield but his powerful right footer missed the woodwork by a whisker.

It followed a series of attacks from skipper Narzary in the eighth and 19th minutes until the 21st minute, when he found the net. Most of the credits for the first goal, however, should go to Sasangka Chanda whose calculated cross from the right flank was gently tapped in by Sibra.

The railmen missed a golden opportunity in the 34th minute when Sankar Sil's penalty shot rebounded off the woodwork. This was awarded to them for P.C. Lalnhming Thanga's fault with Sibra inside the box.

The already struggling Ganga men, on the other hand, were served another blow in 35th minute when their skipper Olatunde Timothy was booked for unsporting conduct by the referee and red-carded. Surprisingly, Ganga still managed to keep their composure in the second half and initiated a few attacks.

In the 51st minute, Surojit Duloi carried the ball from the midfield and took a powerful right-footer from 20 yards away, which was tackled by custodian Sukanta Roy with a brilliant dive.

Finding Sibra unmarked inside the box, Chayaram Basumatary took a powerful right-footer from the left flank which Sibra effortlessly sent home.

A division league: Assam Police Blues today beat City Police 5-1 in a match of the Jibeswar Goswami First Division league on the second turf of Nehru Stadium here.

While Sanjay Rabha scored two goals in the 20th and 49th minutes, Karuna Goyari, Monoj Boro and Malaram Basumatary netted one each for Assam Police in the 35th, 58th and 71st minutes. Pranjit Sarki netted the sole goal for City Police in the 41st minute.
