Inter-school cricket
Guwahati, May 14: Pragjyotish English School today qualified for the semi-final league of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly inter-school cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here.
Pragjyotish today handed a 64-run defeat to Adarsh Hindi High School in their last group league match to join Delhi Public School and Gurukul Grammar School, who have already made it to the semis league, in the round of six.
Pragjyotish, put to bat first, were restricted to 123 for nine in the 20-over truncated-match. In reply, the Adarsh boys were skittled out for a paltry 59 in 12 overs.
Though Shaib Raja topscored for Pragjyotish with 47 runs and scalped three for 22. Teammate Vineet Sajan was adjudged Man of the Match for his hattrick conceding only 10 runs.
In another group league match of the day, Lal Singh Academy inflicted a 34-run defeat on Guwahati Public School. Electing to bat, Lal Singh Academy scored 137 for three in 20 overs and GPS were restricted to 103 for eight in the stipulated 20 overs.
Saurov Baruah, who scored 60 (4x6, 4x4) and claimed two for 17 for Lal Singh Academy was named Man of the Match.
